I just blogged at Prepper Daily News - LuguLake II Bluetooth Speaker and Charger Review + Giveaway

LuguLake II Review and Giveaway - Backdoor Survival

Sometimes we all need to break away from the seriousness of prepping and treat ourselves to something just for the fun of it.  And if that something also serves a useful function?  Then I say “bring it on”!

Today I am breaking form and sharing with you a fantastic Bluetooth speaker that not only delivers terrific sound, but can be used to charge your tablet or smartphone.  The device is called the LuguLake II Charger Speaker Stand and in a word, it is simply terrific!

LuguLake II Review and Giveaway - Backdoor Survival

But hold on.  Not only that, LuguLake is giving away TWO of these units to lucky Backdoor Survival readers.  Let me fill you in on the details.

The LuguLake II Bluetooth Speaker and Charger

My very first impression of the LuguLake was that it was stylish and elegant.  Maybe that is a girly-girl thing to say but by now you know that I am a lipstick and makeup type of gal.  I like the classic look and that is exactly what you get with the LuguLake: a simply beautiful and elegant stand for your devices that is also a speaker and gizmo charger.

For me, the most important thing about anything involving Bluetooth is the ease of pairing.  As techy as I am, Bluetooth and I are not good friends.  Most of the time, I totally fail at the connection process.  Imagine my surprise when I turned on the LuguLake and it found my iPad within seconds?  I was amazed.

After this initial pairing, I played some music then set it aside.  Actually, I set it aside for six weeks.  A few days ago, as I was getting ready to write this review, I pulled the LuguLake from its box, turned it on and it fired right up.  I did not have to push any buttons, wait for any lights, or fiddle with my device to initiate pairing.  It just worked.

My iPad is sitting on the LuguLake next to the monitor at my desk.

Notice that my cell phone is being charged as well.

Did I mention the nifty stand?  As I am writing this, my iPad is sitting on the stand and I am using is as  a second computer as I monitor the website.  At the same time, am charging my cell phone.  Which brings up the topic near and dear to us: charging our gizmos.

Charging Details

I have used the LuguLake to charge my iPhone, iPad, iPod Classic and Kindle.  Here is something that is not in the instructions nor the specifications as far as I can tell.

The charging function works while you are using the Bluetooth speaker function!  Of course you can also charge the device that is playing through the speakers so that it does not run down in the process – very convenient when streaming videos from Netflix of Amazon Prime.

You charge the unit itself by plugging it  into your computer or into a USB wall plug charger such as the one that came with your tablet or phone.  The required output 5V 1A-2A.  A red light comes when you first plug it in and goes off when the charging cycle is complete.  Alas, I can not tell you how long a charge will last because I have yet to run it down.  The specs, however, say 10 hours but practically speaking, that may depend on whether you are also charging a device at the same time.

I tried a number of different USB wall chargers and my laptop as a charging source.  They all worked fine.  I should also mention that a USB charging cable is included in the box along with an auxiliary cable to connect to devices without Bluetooth (like my ancient iPod Classic pictured here) so right out of the box, you have everything you need to charge up and get started.

Did I mention that I have two to giveaway?  How fun is that?

The Final Word

As I mentioned at the beginning of this article, we all need to take an occasional break from the seriousness of prepping and, for me at least, the burden of truth and knowledge.  What better way than to get out some tunes and rock out to whatever makes you smile.

I believe you are going to love the LuguLake II! It is sold on Amazon but of course, you can also enter this giveaway and win one for free!

Have a great day everyone!

Enjoy your next adventure through common sense and thoughtful preparation!

Bargain Bin:  Below you will find links to the items related to today’s article.  The focus today is not necessarily on prepping and survival but on things I own and love to use.

LuguLake II Charger 10Watt Wireless Bluetooth Speaker & Charger:  I have tried many other wireless speakers for my iPad but have always returned them, thanks to the great return policies at Costco and Amazon.  But the LuguLake just works and it charges my device too!  You are going to love owning one of these!

Amazon Basics Cables:  Whether it is a spare cable for your iPhone or other device, I have had excellent luck with the Amazon Basics line of cables.  Sure, they may cost a dollar or two more than the ones you can find on eBay but I have found them to be 100% reliable.  This is the only brand I purchase these days.

Amazon Basics Mouse with Nano Receiver:  Speaking of Amazon Basics, I have had it with those pricey Logitech mice that are wonderful until they stop working.  This $11.49 mouse from Amazon Basics is much easier to connect (no syncing with an external app) and it just works.  I will never pay $35 for a mouse again.

FordEx Group 7W 300LM Mini CREE LED Flashlight Torch Adjustable Focus Zoom Light Lamp (1 Mode Red):  Did you see my two new flashlights in the photo?  For the first time in a long time, both the red and silver version of my favorite Mini Cree are less than $4 with free shipping. Oh my gosh, I am so obsessed with flashlights that I just had to have two more!  If you haven’t tried these, please do.  You will not be disappointed.

NALGENE Tritan 1-Pint Narrow Mouth BPA-Free Water Bottle: I might as well put a plug in for my favorite water bottle!  I have one in blue (okay, that is Shelly’s) and two in purple.  As far as I am concerned, purple is the new black!  I have always used a water bottle with a spout or a wide mouth.  These are so much better!!  Note that there is a price differential, depending on color, so if that matters, click through them to find the cheapest.
