Look at my new article - Is Your Bunker Ready For The Apocalypse?

hommet_bunkerStarting construction on your family’s emergency bunker could be one of the best decisions that you ever make. While costly, the construction of your bunker will provide both peace of mind and a sense of security. No matter what level of bunker you construct when the day comes it will likely save both you and your Family from the otherwise inevitable fate of the masses. This article will go into some ways that you can beef up your bunker construction experience to give you the best chances of surviving the apocalypse.

Train, Train and Train

Even before you begin construction you should acquaint yourself with how to react in a true life or death situation. This means it is time for some training. Skills like confined space rescue and high angle rescue can give you the knowledge to get yourself out of some very hairy situations. I would highly recommend learning these skills before making the investment into a full bunker setup. The tools we buy or construct are useless if we do not use our brains first.

Why Bad Air?

One of the biggest issues when constructing a good bunker is air quality. While it would be great to develop a fully isolated system this is beyond the means of most people. If you plan on staying in your bunker for weeks, months or even years on end it is key to have good quality air. In a recent study indoor air quality can be 4 times worse than outside air. In light of this face you need to take precautions to protect you and your family from the harmful effects of poor air quality. One of the easiest ways to deal with this is installing MERV 13 Filters in your bunker and keeping a 3 year supply of spares in your bunkers storage center.

Biological Hazards

With almost any apocalyptic scenario there is a huge risk of exposure to biological hazards. This is one of the more difficult hazards to prepare for. Because you cannot see, hear or smell most of these risks they can be very hard to prepare for. Stocking your bunker with this type of protection is not only important but also non negotiable. These suits are not that expensive. You can even buy disposable tyvek suits for short-term exposure risk.

Whatever level of preparation you are willing to do will benefit you in the end. The important thing is that you are making active steps to protect your future.
