At Fest I have seen how we can grow our own fish and vegetables in your backyard. I saw how we can raise small scale livestock like quail and rabbits in your backyard.
In this video you learn that you can make your own E-85 fuel in your backyard! You can also purify dirty water into drinking water and with the right license...you can make your own alcohol for yourself or bartering in a survival situation.
The coolest part for me was the fact that you can convert sea water into drinking water. Combine that fact with making your own E-85 fuel and put this system on a boat and you have yourself a great bug out vehicle with the ocean as your bug out location. You have all the drinking water you will ever need.
No need to stock up on water bottles or be tethered to a well or river. Technically you could fish everyday for food but a wise prepper could have a couple cages of quail & rabbits on board to augment the fish. Add one or two of the endless food systems on the back deck and you could grow your own vegetables at sea as well.
The idea is intriguing to me. I have always been conflicted when it comes to buying a few acres of land up in the hills to build a bug out location in case of an emergency because once the word gets out you have a safe haven with supplies up on a hill...you become a target. A target that can't pick up and move and must be defended with lots of defenders.
For the same price of a few acres of land (including the cost of drilling a well) you could easily buy a used boat, and make it into a floating oasis that can constantly be on the move off shore away from large groups of land threats.
Of course there my be raiders on the water but realistically I think the numbers would be lower than on land.
The ocean has it own share of pros & cons but for some, the pros might outweigh the cons?
