A Prepper’s Checklist

's or survivalist's checklist of items for a SHTF scenario
------
This is NOT an endorsement for any of the brands or trade names mentioned here, i'm just passing this information along should it be useful to you. The full checklist can also be found in this video's description if you wish to cut and paste it.

Summing it all up in bullet points, he wrote me the following [i'm paraphrasing]:

* The recent DTM was spot-on with the purpose of Jade Helm (disaster prep), and the concerns about Yellowstone; many people have no idea how significant Yellowstone is if it all goes

* The Northeast is best whereas the Midwest/West-ish/Mid-South are the areas that would be the most affected by a Yellowstone eruption

* The DTM's are also correct about money and the intention to transition to a cashless society; he said there are two reasons you see "We Buy Gold" shops all over the place and in TV and newspaper ads. This is one of those reasons

* FEMA has been expanded and the POTUS has his own 'personal' security force as in NON-U.S.-military. FEMA has set up empty fenced-in areas around the country with gates and usually barbed wire, often near train tracks. These areas are often above underground military areas or tunnel systems

He said he is not a big doomsday 'prepper', but should one want to be prepared for any eventuality, one could procure the following items:

* Have some food stored [the DTM's recommend minimum 6 month food supply]. He said military MRE's or Meals Ready-to-Eat can be obtained from military surplus stores, or even COSTCO and BJ's Wholesale Club now. If you get MRE's, be sure to check the expiration date; although food should be good for some time after the expiration it is best not to cut it close. These and canned foods are the best

* If you have a few extra bucks get some "fish flex" and "fish mox" [antibiotics] and "MMS" [Miracle Mineral Supplement], he has said the military uses MMS

* Have some water stored, minimum several gallons; a water purifier or distiller is an excellent choice; he himself is big on the Berkey water filter and owns a few including the 'sport' model. A water distiller is of course able to desalinate water and make practically any water drinkable. Without potable water you will expire within days so a good water purifier or distiller is an extremely wise addition to any home

* A good knife or two. You want "3G" steel like a Bark River 5-7 inch blade, or a small knife or Spyderco S30v or VG10

* A good flashlight or 2 or 3, for example FENIX brand flashlights as they are common. COSTCO and BJs sell 40-60 packs of AA or AAA batteries cheap. I myself would add to this that there are kinetic powered batteryless models that are powered by shaking the flashlight; these are called Faraday flashlights or 'shake flashlights'. My military contact here has not recommended these- I'm just listing these as an option also

He said you WILL want all of this stuff in the near future

Finally, he said a bug out bag or "go bag" is also good; you can find information on go bag stuff on the Internet
