Sci-Fi “Prepper” Inventions on Tech Preps!

While it is wise to have some knowledge in knowing how to survive without today’s accommodations such as electricity or the local supermarket prepping is not only about living off the land or doing without. Odds are that any disaster you may encounter will leave you thankful for today’s technology and the gadgets it has provided. In fact many preppers today rely in part on these gadgets and smartly so.
Have you ever wondered where the ideas for these gadgets we use today came from? Have you ever owned a “Flip Phone?” Does it resemble the communicators from the original Star Trek series? Are you knowledgeable about Jules Verne? If so, a 1700’s story about the creation of a projectile device that can render a person “motionless.” This is known today as the “Taser”.
There are a lot of inventions that were influenced by the series “Star Trek” and other shows in the sci-fi genre. These inventions range anywhere from mobile communications, tablets, handheld computing systems, weapons, to G.P.S. equipment and much more!
Star Trek has been one of the most influential in giving inventors ideas. We can thank Star Trec and many other sci-fi TV series for a lot of our devices today. They were really ahead of their time as far as imagination and what we can build, and a lot of it has come to fruition today. If you are a big Arthur C. Clarke fan you will know about space odyssey and Hal, a talking computer that can give advice and give information via questions. This is true today, with apple phones and Google talk applications for phones, and of course the pc has their own versions of software. I even have to give some credit to the Jetsons for automated robots, the Roomba vacuum, and lawn mowers that are automatic. One of the biggest inventions is in minority report, where they had gesture motion controls and this is done today and the technology is getting better for it.
After all my Sci-Fi rambling above my point is, like “The Six Million Dollar Man” we are faster and we are stronger having our technology and it should be included in your preps. For this Sci-Fi technology we can thank in large part Science Fiction. Without Science Fiction and its imagination we would not have all the advancements that are valuable to us. With this Sci-Fi technology under most disaster scenarios we are more apt to survive.
