(Editorâs Note: When the word âzombieâ is being used in this article it is referring to looters and criminals that will attack you in the event of war or economy collapse. As we all know, Zombies are just on T.V and the APN does not make it a habit to instill fear in its readers.)
As we welcome 2015, we expect a lot of good things to happen and we hope the New Year brings us fortune. And chances are you also have a New Yearâs resolution. Whether itâs about fitness, attitude or way of living, itâs important that we make it happen. Now, speaking of good things and resolutions, have you thought of making a change to make sure you are ready for the not-so-good things that may come? Of course, we are talking about our undead visitors. And yes, you should now know how to prepare for a zombie apocalypse.
In an interesting article of The Business Insider, different architectural designs were shown specifically made to protect people from zombies. Some of them even have the capability to counter attack. While the featured designs are awesome, it surely is complicated and expensive. Well, you donât have to build a separate fortress to prepare for a zombie outbreak. When all hell breaks loose, you should stay home, hold a gun, and stay awake. And you should be good as long as you know how to protect your home from mass zombie attack.
Fence To Shake Off Our Rotten Friends
They are going to pay you a visit, whether you like it or not. Discourage them with an electric fence and watch them suffer from electric shock or go for a less protected house. If you cannot afford an electric fence, you can opt to build thick and tall gates that can help you prevent zombies from passing through it, and also to combat burglary.
Surveillance Cameras For Extra Pair Of Eyes
While you are comfortably sitting inside your safe ground, you should know whatâs happening on the outside world. Of course, walking out of your door or sticking your head out the window is not recommended unless you want to be an appetizer for hungry zombies. Itâs better to install your wireless security camera for added safety. Strategically install your surveillance cameras on places where it can have a wide view range, such as corners and higher places.
Build A Zombie-Proof Door
Zombies are weak, and you donât need a 12-inch thick door to prevent them from coming in. All you need is an affordable and impenetrable stainless-steel door to secure your home when they come for you. And it goes without saying that you should have your alarm system in place to alert you when these night crawlers start to knock outrageously at your door. A good alarm system store should have both wired and wireless alarm available to help you let zombies know you donât taste that good.
Donât Let Them Pass Through The Window
Donât let your windows be the cause of home security breach. Single-pane windows can easily be broken and if this is still what you have, you better season yourself with salt and pepper. Tempered-glass windows designed for hurricanes or those with wrought-iron security bars will be useful in preserving your family safety. Remember, these buggers will not stop just because you didnât let them enter through the door. They will find another way, but donât give them the chance to have you for dinner.
Stock Up
While going through your zombie apocalypse preparation, donât limit yourself from thinking of ways to keep off these undead walkers. Your survival doesnât only rely on your safety but also to your access to basic necessities such as food and water. Stock up and have your food kit ready, your first aid kit, and have plenty of sanitation materials. Assume that all stores and establishment are already eaten and zombified. So you should already have your supply of food, water, and fuel. And at the same time, donât forget some drinks and/or board games to entertain you and keep you sane. Max Brooks, in his book The Zombie Survival Guide, stated âIn a long and seemingly interminable siege, boredom can lead to paranoia, delusion and hopelessness. It is important to keep your mind in good shape.â
Prepare For Battle
Your efforts to prevent zombies from coming in by enclosing your house are not enough. You should be able to counterattack in case they pass through the obstacles or when you really need to get out of your house. If you have a gun, thatâs great. But if not, turn to your garage and pick up something that you can use to smash zombiesâ brains out. Even the department of defense has a set up a plan to fight off these zombies and you better be ready because itâs inevitable. They are coming. And they will look at you as a double cheeseburger and your family a whole pan of pizza.
With all the TV shows and movies depicting the zombie take over, itâs not that far from reality that these crawlers will soon haunt us. And you better be prepared, equipped, and brave to fight for your life and for your familyâs welfare. Additional safety is necessary to protect your house. Traditional fences, doors, and windows might not be very useful not just in situations like the dawn of the dead, but also in natural disasters and other criminal activities.
There are a lot of ways you can prepare yourself. And now is the best time to do it. Prepare for the worst, equip yourself with skills, and build your fortress. So if somebody asks you if your house is ready for the zombie apocalypse, youâd be confident in saying yes.
